Adding Contrast in Images

Images are a key element in any website. They are needed for almost every design and can be the true gateway to professionalism. There are many ways to spice up images and make them more pleasing for the human eye.

In this article, we present a way to add contrast to images. Contrast is just an easy way to make parts of images really shine. Follow along for a few quick tips to improve your next website theme.

Image Contrast

As shown in the image above, the Tuts+ network has great examples of image contrast. Let’s zoom into their logo to see what is really happening:

If you look at this carefully, you will notice multiple dark and light lines 1 pixel apart. This is where image contrast is being used. The light lines are placed right next to darker shades in order to give the jump more emphasis. Even though this seems like it doesn’t do much, it can really have a great difference on a design.
